The Challenge

First Resonance builds ION, the manufacturing platform behind some of the most demanding programs in hard tech — built by people who understand the problem better than almost anyone. That engineering depth is the strength.

It also comes with a catch: when you’re that close to the product, the story drifts toward specs and features, because that’s how you live it every day. As the team grew, those versions multiplied — talented people each describing ION a little differently, every one accurate, none quite the same. The product was outrunning the story. First Resonance saw it, and wanted to close the gap.

The Engagement

The premise is simple: you can’t make a brand show up consistently until you’ve defined what it’s actually saying. So, we guided First Resonance through our Narrative Strategy process to better define their story.

It started with an audit of how ION was being described across sales, recruiting, and investor conversations — where the story held, and where it thinned out. Then we conducted stakeholder interviews to surface the real through-line, and calibration sessions with leadership to finalize key decisions. The output was a single Narrative Core: the definition of what First Resonance stands for and the language the whole team can rally around.

The Result

The story didn’t just sit in a deck. First Resonance built weekly reviews to coach the team with it, folded it into how they present across every touchpoint, and made it the foundation for their go-to-market plans. One company, one story — and a team that sounds as advanced as the product it ships.
